Precautions
The following provides a general list of precautions pertaining to our NEOPRENE products. Consult your operations manual for precautions specific to your ROHO product.
- CHECK YOUR PRODUCT EVERY DAY! Consult the Product Adjustment at: http://www.therohogroup.com/medical/properadjustment.jsp
- UNDER-INFLATION: If your Product is not holding air, check to make sure that all valves are closed by turning the inflation valves clockwise. For QUADTRO SELECT AND CONTOUR SELECT Cushions, check that the ISOFLO® Memory Control™’s green knob is pushed toward the center of the ISOFLO in the UNLOCKED position so that all chambers will inflate during the inflation process. If your Product is still not holding air, contact your clinical caregiver, distributor, or The ROHO Group immediately. If you continue using a Product which is under-inflated, you will be at risk of developing tissue breakdown (pressure sores).
- OVER-INFLATION: DO NOT use an over-inflated Product. Over-inflation will not allow you to sink into the Product and will result in discomfort, tissue breakdown and instability. This is the most common misuse of ROHO air-filled Products.
- PRESSURE: Changes in altitude may require adjustment to your Product. Check Product when changing altitude of 500 feet or higher.
- PUNCTURE: Keep Product away from sharp objects, which may puncture the air cells and cause it to deflate.
- HEAT/FLAME: Keep Product away from high heat, open flames and hot ashes.
- EXTREME COLD: If Product has been in extreme cold (less than 32° F / 0°C), allow the product to warm to 72° F / 22°C, then open corner air valve. Roll up the product and then unroll it until the neoprene is soft and pliable again.
- HANDLING: DO NOT use any valve as a handle for carrying or pulling your Product. Carry your Product either by the yellow nylon carrying rope (if available) or the cover’s carrying handle.
- OBSTRUCTIONS: DO NOT place any obstructions between the user and the cushion because it will reduce product effectiveness.
- SOLUTIONS: DO NOT allow oil-based lotions or lanolin to come in contact with your Product, as they will degrade the material.
- PRODUCT USE: Your cushioning product is intended to be used as a cushioning device. DO NOT use your product as a water flotation device (e.g., a Life Preserver); it will NOT support you in water. Do not use on top or in conjunction with another cushioning product without the approval of your physician or prescriber.
- OZONE GENERATORS: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Health Canada, and other government agencies have issued warnings regarding the use of ozone generators. These devices may be injurious to your health and will degrade rubber, fabrics, plastics and various other materials, including those used in the manufacture of your ROHO product. Prolonged exposure to ozone may affect the performance of your product and invalidate the product warranty.
- PRODUCT AND COVER ORIENTATION: Product must be used with the air cells facing up. When using a cover with a cushion, the cover’s non-skid bottom should be facing down. If the cover is not used correctly or if the cover is the wrong size, the therapeutic value of the product will be reduced or lost, and may increase shear.
